The TX 37LZD80 has a wide viewing angle, so the images are crisp and clear even when viewed from an angle. Images are beautiful even when viewers are sitting at an angle to the TV. The same high-quality images can be enjoyed from any place in the living room.
You can enjoy the beautiful cinematic reproduction of movie images. The images that are recorded onto movie film at 24 frames per second (fps) are reproduced at two times that speed by 24p Playback. This achieves film-like reproduction than with the 2:3 processing method.
Improved panel contrast combines with the I.S.C.(Intelligent Scene Controller) to achieve a high 10,000:1 contrast ratio. This kind of expressive power will thrill science-fiction fans as even dark scenes are elaborately detailed.
In addition to brilliant picture quality, the Panasonic TX 37LZD80 offers the easy operation made possible by VIERA Link and the SD card slot. VIERA Link lets you operate other connected Panasonic AV components using only the VIERA TV’s remote control unit.
The 37LZD80 is also equipped with a slot for large-capacity SDHC cards. You can view a slide-show of your photos on the VIERA’s big beautiful screen just by simply removing the SD memory card from your digital camera, and slipping it in to the slot on the TV.

Many LCDs suffer from colour fading when not viewed from directly in front – a big problem if you have a large family trying to watch a film together. However, the latest generation of In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology, manufactured in-house by Panasonic, built on years of experience with industry leading wide viewing angle technology, provides an unrivalled LCD TV viewing experience. New generation IPS provides the widest viewing angle possible with the least colour wash-out, even when viewed from the side. The TX 37LZD80 LCD panel has a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees both vertically and horizontally, eliminating faded images that can occur by viewing the panel from certain unfavourable seating positions. ‘V-Real’, Panasonic’s name for their core image processing technology, has evolved on the TX 37LZD80 into V-Real 3 and V-Real PRO 3. Panasonic say they have re-engineered almost every element of this latest version of their excellent picture processing technology.
There are two major parts of the V-real 3 equation, the V-Real PRO 3 Processor and the V-Real PRO 3 Driver. The ‘processor’ section works on the raw video signal to optimise the incoming data stream, while the ‘Driver’ section works with the refined signal and optimises panel performance to this signal.
Illustrating how important basic picture processing ability is, the 37LZD80 puts in an immaculate motion handling performance. With dynamic backlight circuitry, the 37LZD80 also automatically detects the brightness levels of the incoming video signal and adjusts the backlight accordingly. Contrast ratio is up to 10,000:1 from 8,500:1.
Acoustically, the Panasonic TX 37LZD80 delivers the best of sound with V-Audio surround sound and V-Audio technologies. The V-Audio surround sound system features Panasonic’s unique digital amplifier, carbon speakers and slim side speaker design. The V-Audio system on the TX 37LZD80 features the BBE ViVA High Definition 3D Sound technology, which has been designed to create a 3D sound effect from stereo speakers.
The Panasonic TX 37LZD80 is equipped with three HDMI (v1.3) ports making it incredibly easy to connect High Definition sources like Blu-ray Disc players, gaming consoles, HD camcorders, and satellite/cable HD set-top boxes. You can also fully utilise the control possibilities of HDMI by linking all your AV products via VIERA Link and allow easy operation whilst using only one remote control – one remote, total control!
The HDMI v1.3 ports on the 37LZD80 can utilise the Deep Colour (x.v.YCC) format through it’s Wide Colour Gamut Panel with x.v.Colour technology. Digital high-definition TV transmissions are based on a set of specifications called the HDTV Standard. Panasonic’s large colour gamut covers 110% of the HDTV colour standard. Deep Colour produces almost twice the range of available colours, but you will need a source that produces this level of detail (A few HD camcorders offer the feature and Blu-ray discs played through a Deep Colour enabled player such as Panasonic’s DMP-BD30). This wide range has been achieved by an advanced panel structure and newly developed filter, producing richer, more vivid colouring from x.v.Colour signals.
View your personal photos on the 37LZD80’s beautiful screen – just insert an SD or SDHC Memory Card into the slot on the side of your 37LZD80, and your high-definition (1920 x 1080 pixels) 16:9 digital photos fill the large screen in slide show mode.
