Looking very similar to Panasonic’s high-end LZD800 series, the lower edge of the TX 32LXD85 sports a very elegant silver trim running the full length of the panel, tapering away at the edges. This trim is slightly indented at its top and extends outwards slightly beyond the screen at the bottom - giving the feature an elliptical pod like structure. Finishing off this subtle approach, the screen tapers slightly backwards along the top of the unit.
Avoiding the temptation to follow the stylistic lead of other manufacturers and over embellish their screens, Panasonic have managed to produce a subtle yet highly stylish television that also benefits from excellent build quality and technology.

The Panasonic TX 32LXD85 sports an excellent picture processing combination of Panasonic’s V-Real Pro 3 system and the 100Hz Motion Picture Pro system. The former works on improving an insane number of picture elements, including noise reduction, colours, detailing and contrast, while the 100Hz Motion Picture Pro element tries to make moving objects look sharper by doubling the normal PAL refresh rate.
With a 50Hz video signal source, 100Hz Motion Picture Pro creates 100 frames per second from 50 frames per second. This increased frame count allows natural frame-to-frame transitions - which results in smooth motion images with high resolution.
The images are beautiful even when viewers are sitting at an angle to the TV. The 32LXD85 LCD panel has a wide 178° viewing angle, so the images are crisp and clear even when viewed from an angle. The same high-quality images can be enjoyed from any place in the living room - no matter where you sit.
In addition to excellent picture quality, the TX 32LXD85 model offers the easy operation made possible by VIERA Link and the SD card slot. VIERA Link lets you use other connected Panasonic AV components using only the 32LXD85’s remote control unit. The majority of the VIERA line-up is equipped with a slot for large-capacity SDHC cards, this TV is no exception. You can also view a slide-show of your photos on the TV screen just by simply removing the SD memory card from your digital still camera, and inserting it in to the slot on the side of the TV.

‘V-Real’, Panasonic’s name for their core image processing technology, has evolved on the TX 32LXD85 into V-Real 3 and V-Real PRO 3. Panasonic say they have re-engineered almost every element of this latest version of their excellent picture processing technology.
One of the more interesting functions within the V-real 3 system detects on-screen motion and activates back-light blinking to maintain resolution in the areas most affected.
There are two main parts of the V-real 3 equation, the V-Real PRO 3 Processor and the V-Real PRO 3 Driver. The ‘processor’ section constantly works on the raw video signal to optimise the incoming data stream, while the ‘Driver’ section works with the refined signal and optimises panel performance to this signal.
While watching fast moving sport events or movies on TV, you want to enjoy all the action without any motion blur. Thanks to the Panasonic 100Hz Motion Picture Pro technology for LCDs, “motion picture lag” has been significantly reduced. Creating intermediate frames and inserting them between the original frames, the 32LXD85 is able to deliver crystal clear images, even when fast motion is displayed, making the TX 32LXD85 ideal for watching action movies, football games, and broadcasts of other sporting events. Increasing the frame rate from 50 frames per second (fps) to 100fps, Motion Picture Pro has been designed to eliminate the problem of motion blur, a particular problem for some LCD TV’s.
Many LCD TVs suffer from colour fading when not viewed from directly in front – a big problem if you have a large family trying to watch together. However, the latest generation of In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology, manufactured by Panasonic, built on years of experience with industry leading wide viewing-angle technology, provides an unrivalled viewing experience. New generation IPS provides the widest viewing angle possible with the least colour wash-out, even when viewed from the side. The TX 32LXD85 LCD panel is built on the strengths of IPS by delivering faster response time and reproducing intense realistic deep black levels and contrast ratios, especially when used with Panasonic Intelligent Scene Controller technology.
The 32LXD85 LCD panel has a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees both vertically and horizontally, eliminating faded images that can occur by viewing the panel from certain unfavourable seating positions. The extra-wide viewing angle makes the 32LXD85 perfect when watching TV with the entire family or a friends - no matter how large the group!
The Panasonic TX 32LXD85 is equipped with three HDMI (v1.3) ports making it incredibly easy to connect High Definition sources like Blu-ray Disc players, gaming consoles, HD camcorders, and satellite/cable HD set-top boxes.
